Connie and I just returned from voting we both voted for Likud not that we trust Netanyahu but because Likud is the only chance of forming a conservative coalition. Our hopes that in order for him to form the coalition he will be forced to ask Avigdor Lieberman and a couple of the other right wing Parties to join in order to have the necessary 61 votes in the Knesset. Believing that the other right wing Parties will hold a line on Netanyahu and not allow him to do any of his old tricks that got him kicked out of the Government when he was Prime Minister.
What is interesting is the winner of this election will not necessarily be the one to head up the Government that is up to the President “Shimon Peres”. If he believes the winner of the election cannot form a coalition of 61 MK’s he will chose someone who he believes can.
Right now Likud is the favorite but by a narrow margin with Kadima threatening to win. But by this time tomorrow we will all know who got the most votes. And within a few days Peres will chose the Party to lead
