We find in the Word of God at least three time spans for the definition of a generation. Or at least this is the way I see them, you can do your own research and I am sure there will be those who will disagree and miss the whole point of this article.
From the time of Adam until the time of Noah it was (more or less) 100 years, and from the time of Noah until Yeshua (Jesus) it was 70 years. And a New Testament generation is 40 years. So when we read in Matthew 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. We read the same thing in Luke 21:32, but we read some thing else in Luke as well in Luke 21:24b and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the time of the Gentiles be fulfilled. This gives us time schedule of 40 years until the time of the Gentile be fulfilled. It says when Jerusalem is no longer under the control of the Gentiles (Non-Jews) and no one can be more described as a non-Jew than an Islamic Arab. For example if “Christians” would have taken over the Old City of Jerusalem it would be hard to describe them as non-Jews, when you consider the Wild Olive Branch grafted in” making “Christians” in fact Jews.
This gives us something to look at very closely, as you all know I don’t set dates and I am not doing that now, but this is something worth considering. In 1967 in the 6-day war and in the first 18 hours of that war Israel took the Old City of Jerusalem for the first time in over 2500 years Jews were in total control of the Old City of Jerusalem. So if a generation is now 40 years we need to start counting from that time, bringing us to the year 2007. It should be remembered that there are many problems with our calendars and I am not going to get into all of that now. We should also keep in mind that God is sovereign, and our understanding of certain things can be wrong because God’s ways are not our ways.
We are tonight celebrating the 4th day of Hanukah; we keep hearing and writing about the Festival of Lights or the Feast of Tabernacles. But even above those two wonderful celebrations we are really celebrating a victory of 165 B.C. for the first battle of religious liberty for the Jewish people of Israel. What started me to thinking about this miracle of the Maccabean is a prayer we say on Hanukah “HaNesim” meaning the miracle. It caught my eye this year because I live in a group of Judean Mountains known as the Nes Harim (miracle mountains) we over look the area where the city of Modi’in is located in the foot hills, where the Jewish revolt of 165 B.C. began. In 1967 it was called the 6-day miracle-war when the small nation of Israel beat the entire Arab World in only 6 days. I think what this has done for me has brought home again the fact that we serve a miracle working God and He is not out of miracles. We seem to be in an impossible situation with the whole world turning against us, with the likes of Tony Blain who is so influenced by the Islamic powers to be in his own country he is now traveling the Middle East telling everyone that all the problems are because Israel exist, or that if Israel gave up its land all would be well. Well get used to it for that will be the message of all the worlds politicians before long. And the News Media is already indicating that as a fact, as if the Iraq, Iran, and all the rest of the Islamic countries problems is some how our fault. That if somehow the Western World could solve the Israeli/Palestinian problem the entire world would be at peace. What they don’t recognize is, that they are falling right into the Devils trap, but then isn’t that what should happen in the end times according the Bible. Zechariah 14:2.
But there is something else that is troubling me, Believers are chasing after knowledge more than seeking God and His Will for their lives. I find it hard to write an article about the needs of this ministry to those God has called to serve Him in this capacity for what they really want to hear is more and more news as if somehow it makes them smarter or something. I agree that we should know the truth of what is happening and those who have been called should keep the Believers in Yeshua informed to a degree but not to the point of total distraction from God’s calling. For what we are doing is making ourselves god-like thinking that because we have such knowledge we can somehow solve the problems, when we should be on our faces before a Holy God asking for a MIRACLE, for God is not finished with miracles. He gave the Maccabean a miracle, it took years of fighting but he allowed a small band of Jews to defeat the whole Greek Army on the very land that I find myself, a Jew who Believes in Yeshua, writing this article. We will see Jews come to realize that it is only God who can save them, God only knows what it will take to bring the present Israeli population to that realization but you can be sure it will happen. For God would not have called us to a ministry to rescue Jews if He had any other plan. It is Hanukah a time for miracles, and we certainly need one about now. And we are moving into the 40th year sense the taking of Jerusalem from the Gentiles.
I am asking you to pray about your support we need to purchase yet another and much larger boat http://www.thegoldenreport.com/asp/jerrysnewsmanager/anmviewer.asp?a=1089 the groundwork in Turkey, Cyprus and elsewhere is possibly more important. Please remember God is still in the miracle business He is supernatural, do not depend on your own understanding but believe the Word of God. To have knowledge is not bad, but to believe God is much better.
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, for our son Joel and all the IDF soldiers, for this Ministry and your part in it.
Shalom, jerry golden
